Paleolithic cuisine presented in a modern context.

The Challenge

Based on her wildly popular blog and cookbook of the same name, author Michelle Tam wanted to translate her efforts into an online culinary experience, packed with 128 of her mouth-watering recipes based on the ancient principals of the Paleo Diet.

Y Media’s challenge was to take this substantial amount of content, and make it work effectively within a digital environment.

"The app is magnificent... It is a culinary and visual feast."

The Process

Working with the Nom Nom team, YML translated the breadth of the recipes and images into an immersive digital experience that entices casual browsers and serious foodies alike.

The app needed to be simple to use, yet have sufficient detail to successfully cook the recipes at home.

The Result

The best selling app and blog have been recognized by Saveur Magazine as the Best Special Diets Food Blog of 2012, a top 3 finalist for Best Cooking App in the 5th Annual Best App Ever Awards, and winner of the 2014 People’s Choice Webby Award.

The iPhone app was immediately featured by Apple as one of their "Best New Apps." Here are a sample of the reviews..

"I was amazed at its beauty and its ability to get right to the point. Having nothing to do with a diet app, it is plain and gorgeous. It not only inspires me daily to eat well, but to design well. Simple, smart and satisfying."

"I have been living the paleo lifestyle for close to three years and have many recipe books and several apps to reference. By far, this one tops them all. The visual step by step instructions and the interactive shopping list are what make this app a winner for someone just starting out or a veteran."

"I just bought this app today and I am already impressed. It’s so easy to navigate and the photos are beautiful and make me want to make everything! Looking forward to using this daily for tips, recipes and resources."
